Greenscape is a licensed participant in California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS). The LCFS is a market-based system created in 2009 to encourage production and use of low-carbon transportation fuels. Under this program, producers/consumers of renewable transportation fuels such as ethanol, renewable natural gas and diesel, and electricity generate credits that must be purchased by producers/importers of hydrocarbon-based fuels (e.g. refineries). The LCFS credit market in California is currently estimated at ~$4 billion annually. The LCFS system, which is administered by California’s Air Resources Board (CARB), has been adopted by Oregon and Washington, and is currently under active consideration by a number of other states.
